Mercy Rule – If you are involved in a mercy rule contest and a foul is called at the end of the game that would result in free-throws for either team, hustle the teams to the free-throw line and try to permit the player to shoot the free-throws. If you shoot one free throw and the clock expires, the player does not get the opportunity to shoot the other free-throw.

Scorebook – Officials are reminded to print their name in the book prior to the game. This is a subject that was touched on earlier this season.

We have several new gym floors in the area. Rule 1, Section 17 states, ““X” Located Scorer – An “X” 12 inches long and 2 inches wide shall be placed on the floor out of bounds directly in front of the official scorer to help substitutes with the proper location.” However by placing tape on the new surface, it voids the warranty. These schools shall be permitted to place an “x” on a matted surface and place it in front of the scorer’s table or place a smaller “x” on the side of the table in order to comply with the intent of the rule.

Officials working at Carson Long are reminded that if you plan to shower, you must be prepared to move to another location after officiating to take a shower.

Checks – Officials are reminded to cash your checks (most are good for 90 days) within a timely manner. Do not wait to cash your check and risk losing it.

Email Accounts – Keep your email account clean so that when messages are sent, they do not get rejected by your server.
